Part 6: Guided Writing
You are given a short situation and three bullet points telling you what to write. You must address all three points in 25 words or more.
EXAMPLE TASK
You want to invite your friend Alex to visit you this weekend. Write a note to Alex.
Tell Alex:
- when to come
- how to get to your home
- what you will do together
- Cover all three points. Missing one costs marks. Tick them off as you write.
- Count your words. Under 25 loses marks.
- Use a friendly greeting and sign-off. "Hi [name]" and "See you soon!" are perfect for A2.
Part 7: Picture Story
You are given three pictures that tell a story. You must write the story in 35 words or more, writing about all three pictures.
- Look at all the pictures first. Understand the beginning, middle, and end before writing.
- Write about every picture. You lose marks if you leave part of the story out.
- Use the past tense. It's usually easier to tell a story using past simple and past continuous (e.g. 'He was walking to the shop when he saw...').
- Use connecting words. Words like 'first', 'then', 'next', 'because', and 'finally' make your story flow better.
