The Cambridge C1 Advanced (formerly CAE) is an English exam at the C1 level of the Common European Framework. It certifies that candidates have the linguistic competence to follow an academic course at university level, communicate effectively in a professional environment, and express themselves with fluency.
The CAE is graded on the Cambridge English Scale from 142–210. A score of 180+ equals a passing grade C; 193–199 equals grade B; 200–210 equals grade A. A score of 180+ also corresponds to C1 on the CEFR.
