Stating a view, supporting it with reasons, using connectors
A B1 opinion essay has three parts: introduction (state your view) → body (two or three reasons with examples) → conclusion (summarise).
Introducción: En mi opinión, el transporte público debería ser gratuito.
Cuerpo: En primer lugar, reduciría la contaminación. Además, ayudaría a las familias con menos recursos. Sin embargo, necesita financiación.
Conclusión: En definitiva, creo que los beneficios superan los inconvenientes.
Use a variety of opinion phrases — not just creo que every time.
En mi opinión, … · A mi parecer, … · Desde mi punto de vista, …

Estoy (totalmente) de acuerdo con… · No estoy de acuerdo con…
Good connectors show the examiner you can organise ideas.

Conclusion: En definitiva, · En conclusión, · Por tanto,
Support every opinion with a reason (because...) and ideally an example.
…ya que reduce la contaminación. (…since it reduces pollution.)
Por ejemplo, en muchas ciudades europeas… (For example, in many European cities…)
…como ocurre en Suecia. (…as is the case in Sweden.)
Acknowledge the other side briefly — it shows balanced thinking.
Es verdad que… sin embargo… (It is true that… however…)
Aunque tiene algunas desventajas, creo que…
A pesar de que…, sigo creyendo que… (Despite the fact that…, I still believe that…)
