Countable vs Uncountable

Countable: You can count them apple, banana, pizza

Uncountable: You cannot count them bread, water, rice, milk

We say: an apple, but NOT a bread we say some bread.

Some vs Any

  • Some positive sentences
    I have some cheese.
  • Any negative & questions
    I don't have any apples.
    Do you have any milk?
  • Some polite offers/questions
    Would you like some coffee?

In positive sentences, use some, not any.

Another mistake?

Do you have some coffee?
In normal questions, use any. But if its an offer (Would you like), use some.

  • Countable: apple apples
  • Uncountable: milk, bread, rice no plural!
