Imperatives = Commands or Instructions

We use the base form of the verb:

  • Go straight on.
  • Turn left.
  • Don't run.
  • Please sit.
Type Structure Example
Positive Base verb Turn right.
Negative Don't + base verb Don't go straight.
Polite Please + verb / verb + please Please turn left. / Turn left, please.

Give directions from the station to...

Use: go straight on, turn left/right, opposite, next to, please, don't

Example: Go straight on. Turn right at the park. The museum is opposite the bank.

Go straight means gira a la derecha.
We say Don't turns left.
Next to means al lado de.
