Past Simple Regular Verbs
Reglas Ortográficas y Pronunciación de Verbos Regulares en Pasado
En esta lección aprenderás las tres reglas de ortografía para añadir la terminación -ed a los verbos regulares en pasado y los tres patrones fonéticos de pronunciación (/t/, /d/, /ɪd/).

Acciones cotidianas del día a día transformadas al pasado simple.
Work → Worked
I worked 8 hours yesterday.
Play → Played
We played football last Saturday.
Study → Studied
She studied for the exam.
Visit → Visited
They visited Madrid last week.
Observación: Todos estos verbos son regulares porque forman el pasado añadiendo la terminación -ed.
La Regla General — Añadir -ED
Para la mayoría de verbos regulares en inglés basta con añadir -ed al infinitivo.

Importante: La forma de pasado es IDÉNTICA para todas las personas (I/you/he/she/it/we/they worked).
Sometimes we change the spelling before adding -ed:
- Verbs ending in e add -d: live lived
- Verbs ending in consonant + y change y to i + ed: study studied
- One-syllable verbs ending in consonant-vowel-consonant double the last consonant: stop stopped

The -ed ending has three sounds:

Pronunciación de la Terminación -ED (/t/, /d/, /ɪd/)
Tres sonidos diferentes según el sonido final de la raíz verbal.
Sonido /t/ (Sordo)
Tras p, k, f, s, sh, ch: worked [wɜːkt], watched [wɒtʃt]
Sonido /d/ (Sonoro)
Tras vocales y b, g, v, z, m, n, l, r: played [pleɪd], cleaned [kliːnd]
Sonido /ɪd/ (Nueva Sílaba)
SOLO tras sonido /t/ o /d/: visited [ˈvɪz.ɪ.tɪd], needed [ˈniː.dɪd]
Regla de oro: Solo añadimos una extra sílaba "/ɪd/" cuando el verbo termina en sonido t o d.

¡Correcto! Cuando un verbo termina en consonante + Y (study), cambiamos la 'y' por -ied: studied (no studyed).
Regla: Consonante + Y → -ied (study → studied, try → tried, carry → carried).

Encuentra la palabra con doble 'e' innecesaria.

¡Correcto! Si el verbo ya termina en -e (live, dance, phone), solo añadimos -d: lived (nunca liveed).
Regla: Verbo en -e → sólo añadir -d (live → lived, dance → danced).

- Add -ed to most verbs for the past.
- Spelling rules: live lived, study studied, stop stopped.
- -ed sounds: /t/ (worked), /d/ (played), /ɪd/ (visited).
- Use time words: yesterday, last night, last weekend.
