As conjunções servem para ligar palavras, frases ou orações, indicando adição, contraste, causa ou consequência.

because (porque)

Causa: I stayed home because I was ill.

so (por isso / portanto)

Consequência: It rained, so we stayed home.

although (embora)

Contraste: Although it was cold, she went out.

however (no entanto)

Contraste formal (inicia frase): It was expensive. However, it was good.

because vs because of

because + oração (sujeito + verbo)

I stayed home because I was ill.

because of + substantivo

I stayed home because of the rain.

Although it rained, but we went.

→

Although it rained, we went.

não usar 'but' na mesma frase que 'although'

I stayed home because of I was sick.

→

I stayed home because I was sick.
