O que são orações relativas?

As orações relativas juntam duas frases numa só, dando mais informação sobre uma pessoa, coisa ou lugar através de um pronome relativo.

who (para pessoas)

The teacher who taught me is nice. (O professor que me ensinou...)

which (para coisas)

The car which I bought is fast. (O carro que comprei...)

that (pessoas e coisas)

The book that I read / The man that I met.

where (para lugares)

The café where we met. (O café onde nos encontramos.)

whose (posse — cujo/cuja)

The man whose car was stolen. (O homem cujo carro foi roubado.)

who vs which vs that

Pessoas — who / that

A doctor is a person who helps sick people.

Coisas — which / that

The train which goes to Lisbon leaves at 9.

não repetir o pronome "it"
