Skim the text first — get the gist (~2 minutes)
Read the questions BEFORE re-reading the text in detail
Questions follow the order of the text — Q1 is about the start
For each question, find the relevant section and read carefully
Eliminate wrong options — they often contain ONE detail that does not match
Watch for paraphrasing — the right answer is rarely word-for-word from the text
FCE Strategy: Read the question stem first, then search the text for the answer section. This saves time and keeps you focused on relevant parts.
Common traps
Tip
Wrong options often contain a phrase from the text but slightly distort the meaning. ALWAYS check that the answer matches what the text actually says, not just what looks familiar.
