A Young Chef

15-year-old Mark is already a successful chef. He started cooking when he was just seven years old. His grandmother taught him how to make cakes, and soon he was helping his parents cook dinner every evening.

Last year, Mark entered a national cooking competition for teenagers. He didn't expect to win, but the judges loved his food. First prize was a trip to Paris to learn from famous French chefs, and some money to buy new kitchen equipment. Mark used the money to buy a very expensive oven.

Now, Mark cooks at a local restaurant every Saturday. He enjoys working there because the older chefs are friendly and teach him a lot. It is hard work, and he is always very tired at the end of the day, but he doesn't mind. He says it is excellent practice for the future.

Mark wants to open his own restaurant one day. He plans to go to a cooking college when he finishes school. His friends love it when he invites them to his house for dinner, because they know the food will be delicious!
