Atención: En inglés, accommodation es incontable. Nunca se dice “an accommodation” ni “accommodations” (excepto en contextos muy técnicos). Usa a place to stay si necesitas un sustantivo contable.

No digas “make a photo”: En inglés se dice take a photo. “Make” se usa con decisiones, ruido o planes — no con fotos.

“Holiday” vs “vacation”

Diferencias regionales

En inglés británico, holiday(s) se usa para cualquier periodo de descanso o viaje. En inglés americano, se prefiere vacation. Ambos son correctos, pero debes ser coherente.

Estoy de vacaciones esta semana.
(UK) I’m on holiday this week.
(US) I’m on vacation this week.
¿Adónde vas de vacaciones?
(UK) Where are you going on holiday?
(US) Where are you going on vacation?
Importante: Aunque los estadounidenses dicen vacation, usan public holiday (no “public vacation”) para días festivos oficiales.

Errores comunes

Errores típicos de hispanohablantes

I made a reservation in a hotel.
I booked a hotel / made a reservation at a hotel.
Se books un hotel directamente, o se makes a reservation at un lugar (nunca “in”).
We lost the connection.
We missed the connection.
Con transportes, se usa miss, no “lose”. “Lose” implica pérdida permanente.
I need to pass the customs.
I need to go through customs.
La expresión fija es go through customs — nunca “pass the customs”.
My accommodation is very expensive.
My accommodation is very expensive. ✓
Pero: I found a cheap place to stay.
Accommodation es incontable. No lleva artículo ni plural en este contexto.
