¿Qué es un informe en inglés?

En el examen FCE (B2), un report es un texto formal que presenta información recopilada sobre un tema específico, con el objetivo de describir hechos y hacer recomendaciones al final. A diferencia del ensayo, usa encabezados claros y un tono impersonal.

El propósito de este informe es evaluar las instalaciones deportivas.
The aim of this report is to evaluate the sports facilities.
Se recomienda ampliar la biblioteca.
It is recommended that the library be expanded.
No confundas con carta o ensayo: El informe no lleva saludo ("Dear Sir"), ni despedida ("Yours faithfully"). Va directo al grano con secciones bien definidas.

Estructura típica

Cuatro secciones obligatorias

Todo informe FCE sigue esta estructura. Las secciones deben tener encabezados en negrita o mayúsculas para facilitar la lectura.

Error común: No pongas recomendaciones en la sección de "Findings". Las opiniones van solo en la conclusión.

Tono impersonal y formal

Evita el "yo", usa pasiva e impersonales

El informe debe sonar objetivo. Evita frases como "I think" o "In my opinion". Usa estructuras impersonales o pasivas.

Informal (incorrecto)
I think the buses are terrible.
In my opinion, we need a new library.
We asked people and they said...
Formal (correcto)
It was found that the bus service is unreliable.
It would seem that a new library is needed.
Several respondents mentioned that...
