Cap. 2 · Escrita

Descrição — Descrever uma pessoa ou um lugar

Adjetivos bem posicionados, have got, there is : o retrato e o cenário

My best friend is called Marco. He is tall and he has got short black hair and brown eyes. He is very funny and friendly. He loves basketball and video games.

Note as ferramentas : is called (chama-se), is + adjetivo (altura, personalidade), has got + substantivo (cabelo, olhos).

O físico : be ou have got ?

Dois verbos dividem a descrição física : be para a altura e a aparência geral, have got para o cabelo e os olhos.

She is tall / short / slim. — Ela é alta / baixa / magra.

She has got long brown hair. — Ela tem cabelos longos e castanhos.

He has got blue eyes. — Ele tem os olhos azuis.

Ordem dos adjetivos antes de hair : comprimento e depois cor — long brown hair (nunca "brown long hair"). E hair é singular : it IS, nunca "they are" !

A personalidade : os adjetivos certos

Para a personalidade, use dois ou três adjetivos ligados por and ou atenuados por very / quite / a bit.

funny (engraçado) · friendly (simpático) · kind (gentil) · shy (tímido)

clever (inteligente) · lazy (preguiçoso) · hard-working (trabalhador)

He is very kind but a bit shy.

Descrever um lugar : there is / there are

Para um lugar, a base da descrição é there is / there are + preposições de lugar. Organize do geral para o particular.

My town is small but very pretty. There is a beautiful park near the river. There are lots of cafés in the centre. My favourite place is the old market.

Geral (small, pretty) → elementos (there is/are) → o seu toque pessoal (my favourite place). Três movimentos, um parágrafo.

Enriquecer : but, because, really

He is quiet but very funny with his friends.

I love this place because it is always sunny.

She is really good at tennis. — Ela é muito boa no ténis.

Good AT + atividade : good at tennis, good at maths — nunca "good in".
