Oraciones relativas en B2 — más allá de lo básico

En B2 dominarás oraciones relativas reducidas, con preposiciones y el uso de "which" para referirse a una oración completa.

El libro que compré fue caro.
The book which I bought was expensive.
El libro que compré fue caro. (sin pronombre)
The book I bought was expensive.
El hombre que está de pie en la puerta es mi hermano.
The man standing at the door is my brother.
El informe que escribió el equipo es excelente.
The report written by the team is excellent.

Oraciones relativas reducidas

Elimina "who/which + be" — deja el verbo en -ing o -ed

La chica que está de pie allí
The girl standing over there
El coche que fue construido en 1960
The car built in 1960
personas que trabajan aquí
people working here
cartas que fueron enviadas la semana pasada
letters sent last week
-ing para significado activo (quien hace la acción).
-ed para significado pasivo (sobre quien se hace la acción).

Oraciones relativas con preposición

La persona con la que hablé fue amable.
The person I spoke to was helpful. (informal)
La persona con la que hablé fue amable.
The person to whom I spoke was helpful. (formal)
El asunto sobre el que hablamos
The matter about which we spoke
Tiene tres hermanos, todos ellos son médicos.
She has three brothers, all of whom are doctors.
whom solo aparece después de una preposición o como objeto formal. En el habla, es mucho más natural usar "who" y poner la preposición al final.

"which" refiriéndose a toda una oración

Uso no definidor — comenta la idea anterior

No se disculpó, lo que molestó a todos.
She didn't apologise, which annoyed everyone.
Siempre llega tarde, lo que es frustrante.
He's always late, which is frustrating.
La reunión fue cancelada, lo que significó que tuviéramos una tarde libre.
The meeting was cancelled, which meant we had a free afternoon.
Este "which" siempre lleva una coma antes. Nunca uses "that" para esto — solo "which" puede referirse a una oración completa.
